15 Illegal Structures Demolished in Anantnag to Combat Drugs

The District Administration of Anantnag has intensified its crackdown on drug peddlers by demolishing 15 illegal structures during a significant enforcement drive at Waghama in Bijbehara district on Saturday. This action forms part of the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt J&K Campaign, aimed at dismantling narcotics networks and eliminating illegal assets linked to drug trafficking.

In a coordinated effort, revenue authorities, supported by the police department, demolished illegal constructions, including 15 shops that had sprung up on State and Kahcharai land. These land parcels fall under Khasra Nos. 2494 (min) and 2495 (min) located in Estate Waghama. Officials report that these structures were associated with individuals implicated in violations of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The operation not only saw the demolition of illegal businesses but also led to the significant retrieval of encroached State and Kahcharai land. This move marks a crucial step in reclaiming public property from unlawful occupation.

The District Administration has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy against drug-related activities. Authorities stated that strict and sustained action against drug peddlers, narcotics networks, and illegal encroachments will continue as part of the Nasha Mukt initiative. They emphasized that dismantling properties linked to the drug trade is essential for breaking the narcotics supply chain within the district.

In a stern warning, the administration stated that individuals involved in drug trafficking or illegal encroachments will face severe legal repercussions in the upcoming days. This proactive approach highlights the commitment of local authorities to ensure public safety and uphold the law.

In recent months, Jammu and Kashmir has seen an increase in initiatives aimed at promoting a drug-free society. The Nasha Mukt J&K Campaign focuses on raising awareness about the dangers of substance abuse while targeting those facilitating the drug trade. As authorities ramp up their operations, citizens are encouraged to report any illegal activities to aid the ongoing enforcement efforts.

The Nasha Mukt campaign aligns with broader efforts to tackle drug abuse, which has become a pressing concern not only in Jammu and Kashmir but across India. Encouraging community participation remains vital in curbing this challenge.

The demolition of illegal structures in Anantnag reflects a vital strategy to reclaim public resources from illegal elements while addressing the underlying issues related to drug trafficking. This campaign aims to rejuvenate the community and foster safer environments for all citizens.
